CARLA Northam devoted the past few years of her life to improving cardiac research in her role as chief operating officer of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.
Now she has turned her focus to early childhood education and care by taking on the new role of chief executive officer with national peak body Family Day Care Australia at its Gosford headquarters.
?I?ve always wanted to be involved in a non-profit organisation as it?s where my heart lies,? she said. ?I had been looking for a job on the coast for the last two or three years and when this opportunity presented itself it just seemed to fit.?
Mrs Northam brings her 20 years of managerial experience to the position, including leadership roles at The Vision Eye Institute and more recently in her role with the Victor Chang Institute.
Mrs Northam acknowledged that she had come into the role at a time of significant change for the industry, including implementation of the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care.
?As a business woman coming into this position I?ve noticed a lot of disjoint within the industry,? Mrs Northam said.
