Mitt Romney Asked the Wrong Guy for a Big Donation

Fundraising efforts from the Romney campaign are obviously vigorous if they made over $100 million two months in a row, but you'd think they would know better than to ask CNN?contributor?and Democratic National Committee member Robert Zimmerman to make huge donation.

The New York Post's Page Six reports the Romney Victory Fund sent Zimmerman a letter asking for a donation somewhere in the $1,000 to $50,000 range. Modest, that Romney Victory Fund. The letter also called Zimmerman "one of America?s most notable Republicans," which is hilarious because Zimmerman's been a high-profile, elected member of the DNC since 2000. He's appeared on CNN, MSNBC and even Fox News. Zimmerman is currently on the DNC's National Finance Committee, and has worked on the finance committees for three presidential campaigns. Which is to say, Romney shouldn't hold his breath waiting for that check. "Well, at least someone appreciates me," he joked to the Post.?

Maybe the letter was meant for a different Robert Zimmerman, the man more commonly known as Jonah Lehrer's favorite singer, Bob Dylan. We think they'd have the same luck with Dylan-Zimmerman as they did with the other Zimmerman, though.
