According to a report from the New Haven Register, a mother and her seven-year-old daughter survived an accident involving a train. However, Connecticut accident attorney, Jonathan Perkins, says that their battle is just beginning as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority investigates the accident.
Accident Details
On Sunday, May 29, the woman left with her daughter planning to return to a holiday family get-together. Just after 3 p.m. she crossed the train tracks. The vehicle was struck on the passenger side by the train and tossed into a nearby ditch. Amazingly, both the mother and daughter survived the accident. It is believed that the mother and her daughter survived the accident mainly because of the airbags and the car impact was on the passenger side.
Train Failed To Blow Whistle
The train crossing does not have warning gates or lights. Signs are posted for conductors to blow warning whistles announcing that trains are coming through. Witnesses claim that the train did not blow its horn until after impact was imminent. That extended horn drew attention from neighbors.
Mother And Daughter Recovering, While Legal Battle Brews
At the time of the report, the mother and daughter were listed in stable condition. Hartford injury attorney, Jonathan Perkins, warns that the legal battle will begin even during their recovery. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is reviewing the black box to learn what happened during the accident.
