Capcom announces Marvel vs. Capcom Origins ? Video Games Update
Marvel vs. Capcom (MvC) Origins, a compilation of two fighting games developed by Capcom in association with Marvel Comics, will be coming out on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in September 2012.
This compilation will include the two hit ?Vs.? games, Marvel vs. Capcom: The Clash of Superheroes and Marvel Super Heroes which were fan favourites in their time. Marvel Super Heroes was released in 1995 for the Sony Playstation, Sega Dreamcast and Arcades. The Dreamcast version of the game did well with critics as Famitsu awarded it 33 points out of 40.
Capcom, building on the same fighting mechanics, released Marvel vs. Capcom: The Clash of Superheroes in 1998 for Arcades and brought it out for Dreamcast and Playstation the following year. MvC featured 22 playable characters, which includes hidden secret characters, from the Marvel and Capcom Universe and also had 22 support characters which would be used to assist during special moves and finishers.
The upcoming XBL and PSN release of the two game collection boasts new features such as online play with 8 player lobbies, spectator mode, dynamic challenges and a replay saving feature. Capcom has also stated that the graphics will be getting an HD makeover but the games will be retaining their old aspect ratio and won?t be upgraded to 16:9 widescreen.
Though one might doubt Capcom?s decision to bring out this game this year as the company is also planning to release Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Uncanny Edition which will also be a downloadable title for $15 on PSN and 1200MS points on XBL Marketplace. Fans will have a hard time deciding between the two games.
Some fans are skeptical and believe that Capcom is likely to re-release a true HD version of the game as well after some time as the company is known for its notorious re-releases of old games.
The game will cost $15 on the Playstation network and 1200 MS points on Xbox Live Marketplace as it will be available for gamers to try on the Comic-Con 2012 show floor. Great news for fighting game fans as they will be able to play these classic gems again on their current consoles.
